The most shocking case of this year after the death penalty of culprits of Nirbhaya case is the death of two people in Tamilnadu, Jeyaraj and Fenix. They are said to be arrested for keeping the shops open after the permitted hours. The shops in the country have been allowed to remain open for a certain time period due to outbreak of Coronavirus. On 23rd June, were declared dead. After taking to the hospital. It is being said that they were brutally tortured by the policeman for just keeping their stores open after the permitted hours. They were brutally tortured by policemen and instead of charging those police man with murder they have just been transferred to another state. This is not justified. The policeman who arrested the men have been said not been charged with murder.
The family of the men who were killed by the police during custody have been given compensation by the state government. The compensation given by the state government is not enough for bringing back the lives of two innocent people. They do they have committed an offence of keeping the shops open after the permitted are but the police have no authority of beating them brutally for this offence.
Since that day a huge outcry has is being noticed in the whole country for seeking justice for father and son. The public outcry is for punishing those policemen for allegedly misusing their powers too. This matter is not been taken seriously by the authorities. The policemen at present are the murderers and are eligible for bring punished for the same.
Police is said to uphold the dignity and law of the state. They are known to be the protectors of law. There are some guidelines for arresting. The police in this case did not follow of any of them. A survey of an NGO of last year showed that many people die every year while being in custody. This is known as custodial death. The present case is one of the major custodial deaths that have been noticed in the country till now.
The public now demands justice for father and son. This is also an awakening call for having a rigid law in relation to actions taken by police. For now, it must to punish the policemen for the crime committed. The law and rule must be same for all the citizens including normal people and people in charge.
